TYPES OF HARDWOOD FLOORING / FLOORING DESCRIPTIONS / DEFINITIONS
Solid Hardwood (100% wood layer), Engineered (plys under neath, wood layer on top); Hand-scraped (grooves cut out of wood, not a smooth surface), Distressed (more rustic look, but surface is usually smooth); Wirebrushed (distressed using a wire brush to scrape the surface); Engineered Longstrip (usually 2 or 3 strips that are glued onto 1 board, each strip is approximately 2 1/4" to 3" in width); Floating Hardwood (can be installed with either a click system or floated - without glue, nailing or stapling. This is considered to be the easiest form of installation available for the do-it-yourself person); Bamboo.

SOLID HARDWOOD
Has a rich, grainy luster that has come to define the look of a hardwood floor.
Can be sanded and re-stained multiple times.

ENGINEERED HARDWOOD:
Made from multiple cross plies of hardwood with a furniture quality top layer. More stable and less susceptible to moisture.
